sock puppets

Just to mess with him, we put socks on Ben’s hands. He had a great time trying to get them off! (And the stain on his shirt is from more chocolate.)

Ben is a chocoholic

Ben’s favorite food is chocolate, just like mommy. I gave him an Oreo and he made a mess of himself!

Ben got his glamour shots!

On Dec. 11, we went to Sears and got some professional one-year photos taken. Below are the three I bought some prints of:

You can view them all here: Sears photos

Whew are they expensive! I purchased an 8×10 of the above shots and some wallets of the top photo. I considered buying a bunch and then passing them out, but I don’t want to spend tons of money on something people don’t actually want. If  anyone wants to order some, let me know what size and what print.

12-month check up

Ben had his 1-year check up last week. His stats:

  • Weight: 22 lbs. 4 oz. (between the 25th and 50th percentiles – translation: skinny)
  • Height: 32.75 inches (above the 95th percentile – translation: off the charts tall)
He had five shots, including a flu shot. He also had to have some routine blood work done, which I took him to do right after those shots. He was sound asleep so I thought we could be in and out at the lab. Wrong! Such a big needle in a little arm! Such a soul-piercing scream that I have never heard before. Very disturbing!
Overall though, Ben is perfectly healthy. Because he is a super physical kid, his communication skills are a little stunted, but no cause for concern. It doesn’t help that he uses a pacifier and we give in to his crying all the time. (Hey, I may not be the best parent but I’m proud he’s still alive!)

Ben’s first birthday party

On November 19, we had a 1st birthday/housewarming party at our new house in Tavares. Unfortunately, Ben had just had five shots the day before so he wasn’t in a terrific mood. Friends and family came, brought delicious food, and everyone seemed to have a fun time.

For the birthday cake, Publix provided a free “smash” cake for Ben. It contained a ton of sprinkles. Ben, taking a little of his dad’s OCD, began picking the sprinkles off one by one instead of smashing the cake. We had to show him how to be messy! But once he learned, he was a disaster! I’m still picking up sprinkles off the bathroom floor!

Ben loves peanut butter, and hates everything else

Turns out, Ben is a pickier eater than Blake and I put together. We made him a plate of veggies and wanted nothing to do with it. I have very little patience for his “fakey” crying so I gave him a spoonful of peanut butter. That shut him up. And made a mess!

Ben’s first birthday

The party is 11/19 but Ben turned one on Wednesday, November 16.

At his 12 month check up today, his measurements were:

  • Weight: 22 lbs. 4 oz. (between the 25th and 50th percentile)
  • Height/length: 32.75″ (above the 95th percentile)
He got 5 shots and then had to get blood drawn.

Bath time in the new house

Blake’s mom decorated the Ben’s/the guest bathroom in duckies. And Ben’s happy to have his own tub with his own toys. Such a cute little man!
