We didn’t take as many photos this time around… it was so packed there. Blake and I had fun pin trading – we are addicted now. I rented an audio descriptive device for someone with a visual impairment so I could test it for work. It was a lot of fun and made most of the attractions more fun. Ben seemed to enjoy himself as well.

First haircut
Ben’s rat tail got so long you could make a ponytail out of it, and no matter how we brushed his hair, it was always a mess. So last night I grabbed the scissors. I underestimated the effect of scissors + wiggle worm, so he got a less than wonderful hair cut but at least he looks like he has human parents instead of wolf ones.

Food fun time
Ben makes some funny faces when eating. If only he were as happy to eat carrots and pasta as he is Doritos and Cheerios…
Post-partum weight gain
It should come as not surprise to anyone who has seen me in the last year that not only have I not lost my baby weight (approx. 15 pounds), bout I’ve also gained additional weight (approx. 15 pounds). There are lots of things to blame it on: stress of being a first-time mom, stress of new stressful job, stress of new house, stress of not losing the original weight, being too tired from work/mommying/wifeing to do anything, poor eating habits… summary: stress, stress-inflicted fatigue, love of crap foods.
That’s why you don’t see any photos of me on here…
I resolve right now, for my own health and for my future with Ben and Blake, no more excuses! Let’s lose some weight!
However, these are some more excuses for my weight gain/lack of loss:
Postpartum Weight Gain Linked To Lack Of Sleep
Ben chases daddy!
Ben is very comfortable walking. He often chases us around the house. He gets more and more fun by the day! See for yourself:
Ben’s first birthday party
On November 19, we had a 1st birthday/housewarming party at our new house in Tavares. Unfortunately, Ben had just had five shots the day before so he wasn’t in a terrific mood. Friends and family came, brought delicious food, and everyone seemed to have a fun time.
For the birthday cake, Publix provided a free “smash” cake for Ben. It contained a ton of sprinkles. Ben, taking a little of his dad’s OCD, began picking the sprinkles off one by one instead of smashing the cake. We had to show him how to be messy! But once he learned, he was a disaster! I’m still picking up sprinkles off the bathroom floor!
Ben loves peanut butter, and hates everything else
Turns out, Ben is a pickier eater than Blake and I put together. We made him a plate of veggies and wanted nothing to do with it. I have very little patience for his “fakey” crying so I gave him a spoonful of peanut butter. That shut him up. And made a mess!
